Campus Incharge

The campus in charge holds primary responsibility for the ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of Al-Asr school’s curriculum. As part of the administrative team, the campus in charge plays a central role in the success of the school. The campus in charge also works closely with the Director of his or her school and other duties assigned by head office.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a relentless drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of school
  • Research, design, and/or supplement the academic curriculum for all subjects and grades based on successful models and approaches
  • Align the academic curriculum with state standards, Al-Asr Schools standards, and other scientifically-based benchmarks
  • Document and communicate scope and sequence for each grade level
  • Monitor grade-level progress against scope and sequence benchmarks
  • Participate in the design and implementation of systems to assess student achievement
  • Generate and manage standardized test and internal assessment schedules, logistics, and reporting
  • Evaluate, approve, and purchase curricular materials such as textbooks
  • Observe and coach Teachers daily
  • Train and orient staff members according to Al-Asr curricular systems and key pedagogical issues
  • Ensure access to and participation in high-quality internal and external professional development for staff
  • Help teachers to develop instructional strategies and intervention programs that elevate achievement among struggling students
  • Participate in staff recruitment
  • Collaborate with the Head Office, Managing Director, Coordinator, Head Teacher, and other school staff to maximize the ability of Al-Asr Schools to support students’ academic and socio-emotional development
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Coordinator

The Coordinator at Al-Asr Schools will work with the school’s Principal and Managing Director to ensure that all students demonstrate dramatic achievement gains and internalize the school’s values. This individual will also help lead the school’s efforts to create a positive, structured, consistent, caring, and disciplined school culture.

Responsibilities
  • Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience in a school.
  • Belief in and alignment with Al-Asr School System’s core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.
Compensation

Playgroup Teacher

The Preschool teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. The Preschool Teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a program to teach young children. They must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with. The Preschool Teacher will be respectful of children and parents, and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Failure to provide adequate services may place children at risk.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a developmentally appropriate preschool program for young children
  • Proper implementation of planed activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children.
  • Execution of weekly and monthly schedules of activities
  • Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times
  • Perform activities that introduce math and literacy concepts
    Provide nutritious snacks and lunches
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures being a Pre School Teacher
  • Supervise children in the Pre-school
  • Ensure children are supervised at all times
  • Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and story telling

Working Conditions

Environmental Conditions

The Preschool Teacher will be working in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. There may be a number of activities and situations happening at once, and the Preschool Teacher will have to supervise all children at all times.

Sensory Demands

The Preschool Teacher may experience smells associated with toileting and children who are ill. There may be times that the environment is noisy and busy.

Mental Demands

Caring for children can be stressful. Ensure that the children are involved in safe and appropriate activities. There may be a number of situations happening at once, and the Preschool Teacher must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time

Qualifications

Preschool teachers educate children between the ages of 3 and 5. They provide preschool students with foundations for academic success and creative expression while preparing them for senior classes

Helping Teacher

The Helping Teacher position provides a unique opportunity for talented individuals with limited or no teaching experience to explore the field of education and to gain hands-on practice and the training necessary to become a successful full-time classroom teacher. Helping Teachers will have an opportunity to observe best practices in classroom instruction and education reform from experienced teachers and school leaders. Depending on school needs and candidate background, Helping Teachers may also teach their own class of students. Helping Teachers will also assist with a variety of work inside and outside of the classroom, organizing student events, and developing mentoring relationships with students. By the end of the year, Helping Teachers will be very strong candidates for full-time teaching positions.

Responsibilities
  • Teach classes on behalf of campus in charge and coordinator who are observing other teachers
  • Provide substitute teaching coverage for teachers within the school
  • Potentially teach one class or small groups of students
  • Periodically plan and deliver instruction, gradually taking on more responsibility throughout the year
  • Develop teaching skills to potentially become a full-time teacher at the school
  • Support students by providing one-on-one and small group tutoring daily, and small group intervention and student support
  • Observe Master Teachers in order to improve instructional techniques and classroom management
  • Assist teachers with instruction, assessments, grading, and other classroom responsibilities
  • Participating in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions, events, and trips
  • Serving as an advisor to a small group of students
  • Supervising students during transitions, breakfast, lunch and afterschool
  • Being accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards

Educational Background and Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree is required. A background in education is not required, though candidates should show a demonstrated passion for working with students.

Compensation

This is a paid teaching helping ship, including comprehensive benefits. Aside from extensive professional development, all our campuses are equipped with a desktop computer for teachers, email, high-speed internet access, and all necessary instructional supplies.

Administrator

The Administrator plays a central role in ensuring an orderly, responsive, and open school. In addition to maintaining the school’s administrative systems and routines, the administrator functions as the primary contact person for all of the school’s constituents. As an Administrator, he must be able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, families, trustees and visitors.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day to day activities of the school and serving as the main point of contact in the school reception area
  • Manage phones (answering calls, re-directing calls, taking messages, placing calls, creating school announcements, etc.)
  • Manage mail (distributing received mail, preparing school mailings, making mail drops, etc.)
  • Manage the collection and maintenance of student, personnel, and school information (receiving forms and paperwork, tracking missing forms, managing databases, updating contact information, keeping records current, etc.)
  • Manage school-wide daily systems (managing student attendance, tracking the student discipline system, etc.)
  • Help to plan and manage logistics and preparations for school events and activities as needed (making photocopies, setting up for special events, making phone calls to confirm attendance, etc.)
  • Help to organize staff meetings, staff retreats and annual evaluations
  • Greet and document all visitors (signing in visitors, ensuring that students only leave with authorized parents/guardians, monitoring and controlling access to the school, etc.)
  • Coordinate on-site components of school financial systems such as purchase orders, payroll records, grant reports, and financial forms
  • Manage school maintenance and supply systems
  • Maintain office equipment and furnishings, and upgrading as needed
  • Maintain school calendar of events
  • Process student applications.
  • Be present and engaged at least Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Work periodic evenings and weekends as needed; and Work on a year-round administrative schedule with school holidays and some summer vacation.

School Receptionist

The Receptionist functions as the initial contact person for students, teachers, families, vendors, and visitors, and must be able to communicate effectively with all groups. The Receptionist will also support the Office Manager with administrative tasks. The Receptionist reports to the Director, Principal and works from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Saturday.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the main point of contact in the school reception area
  • Greet and document all visitors (signing in visitors, ensuring that students only leave with authorized parents/guardians, monitoring and controlling access to the school, etc.)
  • Direct vendors to delivery locations or to Operations Leader
  • Manage phones (answering calls, re-directing calls, taking messages, placing calls, etc.)
  • Receive, track, and issue receipts for all incoming student fees
  • Manage the collection of student, personnel, and school information (receiving forms and paperwork, tracking missing forms, updating contact information, etc.)
  • Support school events and activities as needed (making photocopies, setting up for special events, making phone calls to confirm attendance, etc.)
  • Manage mail (distributing received mail, preparing school mailings, etc.)
  • Maintain the professional appearance of the reception area
  • Other administrative support as assigned.
Schedule
  • Be present and engaged Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Work periodic evenings (school wide events such as report card conferences, student performances, etc.)
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of office experience
  • Communicates well with others and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues, and community members
  • Must enjoy contact with children and parents
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Access
  • Displays maturity and ability to work independently
  • Has the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities is preferred
  • Spoken English skills preferred, but not required
  • Intermediate degree preferred

School Receptionist

Under general direction, sets up and maintains accounting ledgers, journals, and records, and prepares financial statements and reports.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare students fee vouchers, collection of fee, re-conciliation of Bank book and school record.
  • Preparation of salary sheet, monthly accounts report.
  • Assists director and administrator in preparation of monthly, yearly budget.
  • Sets up and maintains journals, ledgers, and other records.
  • Prepares journal vouchers and makes adjusting and closing entries.
  • Establishes accounts receivable from various sources of information.
  • Maintains accounting control records for receipts, payments, and balances.
  • Reviews account payable and payroll records.
  • Conforms to safety standards, as prescribed.
  • Performs other tasks related to the position, as assigned.
